It was so hard. Why was it so hard to have a relationship with your best friend that was close, but yet you didn’t have any desire to be with them romantically. That’s the question Wally and Dick asked each other every day, every second that they were together. They’d give each other hugs and someone would ask “How long have you been together?” They’d compliment each other about their looks or their features and someone would say “How many times have you tapped that?” Every little thing they did to show their strong, platonic love for each other, people took it the wrong way and they weren’t able to do anything about it.

They couldn’t even get a real boyfriend or girlfriend to dispel people’s thoughts because that person would call them unfaithful, shout “cheater!” and “liar” in their faces with disgust and hatred, always leaving them heartbroken and utterly miserable.

Now they’re going to proms, dances, valentine parties together because no one else would accept them. They had to dance together and hold hands together, and be absolutely miserable together because of on-lookers and gossip mongers. Now they had to be stuck in a relationship that wasn’t what it looked like because they loved each other, really really loved each other.

But only in a platonic way.
